What is boiler cover?

Put simply, it's an agreement that provides an annual boiler service and cover to protect you if anything else goes wrong with your boiler.

We also provide cover for the rest of your home heating equipment should you require it. You can find this under the Home Emergency section of our website or contact us for more information.

What is boiler cover is not for.

This product might not be suitable for everyone, whilst the information below may be obvious, we felt it's worth pointing out. Our Annual Boiler Service, Support & Maintenance agreements are not suitable for:
- Replacing your home and contents insurance
- Replacing any other insurance policy you have
- LPG, oil or electric boilers (These can be more expensive to service)
- Any gas boiler over 15 years old. It may be more economical for you to get a new one.
- Guaranteeing any repair work that was not related to the Annual Boiler service included in the agreement, all other work is discretionary and depending on your package level, may include call-out fees if we're able to help.
- Replacing any home equipment if it is not cost-effective to repair

What is included in your annual boiler service?

What's included

A full inspection of the chimney structure, with inspection and cleaning of the burner, combustion chamber, injectors, heat exchanger and ignition devices, if required
Checking of all seals and gaskets
Inspection of condensate traps and drains
Testing the appliance in accordance with manufacturer's instruction
Combustion analysis and measurement against guidelines set by the manufacturer's instructions, to calculate the efficiency of the boiler
Functional testing of heating and hot water
A visual inspection of any other encountered gas appliances
An assessment of your current heating controls and best practice advice regarding energy efficiency

Recommended every 12 months.

What is the definition of an emergency?

We define an emergency as sudden and unforeseen damage to something in your property that's covered by your plan, which immediately:

Exposes you to a risk to your health
Creates a risk of loss of or damage to your property
Makes the buildings uninhabitable

An example of an emergency is a boiler that has completely failed and does not produce heating and/or hot water.

What is a full strip down boiler service?

A full strip-down service is much more intrusive, it involves,

Inspection and cleaning of the ignition system
Inspection and cleaning of the fan
Inspection and cleaning of the burner
Inspection and cleaning of the baffles
Inspection and cleaning of the heat exchanger
Combustion seals are also replaced

It also includes the 'annual boiler service' checks.

This type of service is recommended every 6 or 7 years.
